Lots of people give gift cards for Christmas or Birthdays. Personally, I don't like getting gift cards. It's so impersonal. I like when people buy me something that required a little thought. Also, I love giving people gifts, so it's fun to shop for the perfect item for that person. On the otherhand, don't just give someone a gift without being positive it is something the person will like. If you just give them any old thing, you would be better off with a gift card. What are your thoughts? Would you rather receive a gift or a gift card? What would you rather give?
i would rather recieve a gift...........i would rather give a gift and card

My sister, 3 year old niece Mckenzie, and I went to the concert last night at SGC. Back in the day (makes me sound old :D...1995-98), I was in the choir and loved concert time. I was quite impressed with last night's performance. All the songs, dancing, costume changes...great job -- Philisity, Ariel, and Kalani! We needed to leave during the last song and had a tough time convincing Mckenzie to leave. She loves to sing.I saw several of my students in the audience. If you went, what are your thoughts? If you didn't go, comment on the last performance of the CHS Choir you've had the chance to hear.

The point of having vast coffers o’ cash, as any filthy-rich person will tell you, is to pay your way out of the mundane hassles that afflict the hoi polloi: traffic jams, military service, child rearing, flossing. Regrettably, aeronautics expert Paul Moller can’t help with flossing, but traffic jams he’s got covered.
Since 1962, Moller, a professor at the University of California, Davis, has been experimenting with fixed-wing planes that can take off and land vertically -- the perfect profile for the fabled flying car. The latest incarnation, the M400 Skycar, can carry four passengers as fast as 375 mph while cruising along at 13,200 feet. As the Moller site says: “No traffic, no red lights, no speeding tickets.” Also, one hopes, no midair collisions, no terrifying plummets to a fiery death. The site calls the M400 “personally affordable,” but it doesn’t quote a price. We all know what that means: If you have to ask, you can't afford it. But you don't have to ask, do you?
Do you think this is the car of the future? What's your thoughts on this car?

Parents, brace yourselves: The survey results are in, and you may not like what they reveal about girls and sex.More than 10,000 teenage girls and young women took part in an anonymous survey over the summer on TyraShow.com, the Web site of “The Tyra Banks Show.” Survey questions focused on sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy, as well as drinking, drugs and violence among females. Here are some findings from the survey:On average, girls are losing their virginity at 15 years of age.14 percent of teens who are having sex say they’re doing it at school.52 percent of survey respondents say they do not use protection when having sex.One in three says she fears having a sexually transmitted disease.24 percent of teens with STDs say they still have unprotected sex.One in five girls says she wants to be a teen mom.About 50 percent acknowledge that they’ve hit someone. One out of three teens has tried drugs. What are your thoughts on these results? Do you believe them or not based on your experience and here at CHS? What does CHS need to do to educate and prevent these statistics from being so high?

This event happened way before your time...and mine, but it was a horrible tragedy. Use the net to research this day. Who was Reverand Jim Jones? What happened?
Jones was born in Crete, Indiana, a rural community near the Ohio border,[1] to James Thurman Jones, a World War I veteran, and Lynetta Putnam.[2] He would later claim part Cherokee descent through his mother, though this was likely false.[3][note 1] Economic difficulties during the Great Depression necessitated that Jones' family move to nearby Lynn, Indiana in 1934.[4] Jim Jones and, later, a journalism professor who grew up in Lynn both claimed that James Thurman Jones was in the Ku Klux Klan.[4]
In 2007 interviews with PBS, childhood acquaintances recalled Jones as being a "really weird kid" who was "obsessed with religion ... obsessed with death", and claimed that he frequently held funerals for small animals, and had purportedly fatally stabbed a cat.[5]
Jones was a voracious reader as a child, studying Joseph Stalin, Karl Marx, Mahatma Gandhi and Adolf Hitler.[6] He studied each carefully, noting their strengths and weaknesses.[6] After Jones' parents separated, he moved with his mother to Richmond, Indiana.[7] Jones graduated from Richmond High School early and with honors in the winter of 1948-49.[8]
Jones married Marceline Baldwin, a nurse, in 1949 and moved to Bloomington, Indiana.[9] Jones attended Indiana University at Bloomington, where a speech by Eleanor Roosevelt about the plight of African Americans impressed him.[9] Jones' sympathetic statements about communism offended Marceline's grandmother.[9] In 1951 Jones and Marceline moved to Indianapolis, where Jones enrolled in Butler University, where he attended night school and earned a degree in secondary education in 1961.[

If you could start your own business tomorrow, what would it be? My choice is simple. I would enroll in a culinary institute and complete a degree in Pastry & Baking. Then, I would open my own speciality cake & gourmet dessert shops. For now, I just have to keep dreaming... :) I love teaching and being around all of you all, but I'm not sure it's my absolute passion. I think I would be happiest owning my own business.

What are your thoughts on the electoral vote? Is it a fair system? For example, since McCain won in Georgia, the votes of those in Georgia that voted for Obama didn't count. The same goes for those in Virginia that voted for McCain.By the way, I am disheartened at the election results (I will support my moral values regardless of the economy and race.), but .... SO glad we can finally quit hearing all this political hype. I'm ready for there to be real news instead of election banter. This should be the last political blog for awhile. =) I am very excited that both Saxby Chambliss (R) and Jack Kingston (R) both won in the Senate and House!

It's Halloween season and you know what that means: time for what has become our annual 13 Best Haunted Houses list! There have been a few additions and subtractions from last years list , but, as always, each one has their own unique characteristics that make it a worthy haunt for even the most seasoned of haunted housers.

I broke a mirror this morning while getting ready. I accidently dropped my hand mirror on the tile floor. It pretty much shattered. :( According to superstitions from many years ago, I am now facing 7 years of bad luck!?! Personally, I don't follow this kind of thinking, but I've heard of many people that do. For example, my aunt used to make this X mark across the windshield if she was driving down the road and a black cat ran across. I laughed and thought it was crazy, but just something she'd heard for years and wasn't taking any chances. :DDo you believe any old wise tales or superstitions like these? Why or why not? Where did the breaking a mirror superstition originate?
yes because it might be true....bad luck

My little neice in this picture is named Kyleigh Laverne. Laverne was my paternal grandmother's name. She was one awesome lady and although Laverne may not be the prettiest name out there, it is a name to be cherised within our family. If you had a child tomorrow, what would you name it?
By the way, Kyleigh only weighed a little over 3 lbs. She was about 2 months early and spent over a month in the hospital in Savannah. She is now around 8 months old and weighs about 13 lbs. She smiles all the time and is the sweetest baby girl I know!
If i had a baby tomorrow i would name it ZY'KHIA AALIAH WILCOX

The last debate was last night and with only a few weeks left until the election, the campaign is heating up. I didn't get a chance to watch last night's debate since I was at church, but I plan to catch up with last night's happenings on CNN later today. Did you watch the debate? If you did, what were the big topics? Did the debate change your mind about who you are going to vote for? If you didn't watch, why didn't you? What did you do instead?

Random Act of Kindness
Four other friends of mine went shopping to Albany with me Saturday. After shopping, we went to Logan's to eat. We got out and were going into the restaurant when this man (by himself and early 30ish) walking ahead of us stops and holds the door open for all of us females. As we're going in, he says something to us about looking pentecostal holiness. We commented, laughed and went on in....We got seated and then realize the waitress had seated him about 2 booths away from us. In a few minutes, another guy joins him. After awhile, somebody at our table noticed him getting his friend to turn around and look at us. Anyway, we get our checks and get our money out. The waitress comes back and says not to worry about the checks. We're like "huh!??" and she just repeats herself. We wonder if she's just talking to my sister, Leigha, since Leigha's salad wasn't just right. She tells us that everybody's check has been taken care of and she can't say what happened and for us to just count it as a blessing. We were speechless!!! ...and all immediately realized that guy must have paid for our meal (totaled $60-70) since we saw him call our waitress over to his table earlier. So, then we're all wondering what in the world do we do?!? So, we just all acted normal and walked out...laughing a bit though except for Amy who glances at him. He waves. She smiled and waved back. LOL It was crazy and has never happened to any of us before, but it was great!!What do you think about this incident? Have you ever had anything like this happen to you before? Have you ever did this for someone else? What are some simple random acts of kindness you could do to make the world a better place?

I'm not asking for you to tell me which candidate you are in favor of, but to give an educated opinion on the debate.

While looking at a cooking magazine yesterday, I saw the oddest Hershey's Kisses ever -- Candy Corn. I discovered John McCain's daughter's blog this morning. http://www.mccainblogette.com/ She is 23 years old and is blogging about her experience on the campaign trail. She is on the verge of possibly becoming the President's daughter. Already she is experiencing being followed around by secret service agents, but that will become a constant part of her life if her dad wins the election. Read some of her blog. It's quite interesting! How would you handle being constantly followed by someone? Would you welcome or resent the protection? Write on paragraph (5 sentences +) describing your thoughts.

PHOENIX, Arizona (AP) -- "Man's best friend" doesn't go far enough for Buddy -- a German shepherd who remembered his training and saved his owner's life by calling 911 when the man had a seizure. And it's not the first time Buddy has been there for owner Joe Stalnaker, a police officer said Sunday. On a recording of the 911 call Wednesday, Buddy is heard whimpering and barking after the dispatcher answers and repeatedly asks if the caller needs help."Hello, this is 911. Hello ... Can you hear me? Is there somebody there you can give the phone to," says the dispatcher, Chris Trott. Police were sent to Stalnaker's home, and after about three minutes Buddy is heard barking loudly when the officers arrived. Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said Stalnaker spent two days in a hospital and recovered from the seizure."It's pretty incredible," Clark said. "Even the veteran dispatchers -- they haven't heard of anything like this." Clark said police are dispatched whenever 911 is called, but that Stalnaker's address was flagged in Scottsdale's system with a notification that a trained assistance dog could call 911 when the owner was incapacitated. Clark said Stalnaker adopted Buddy at the age of 8 weeks from Michigan-based Paws with a Cause, which trains assistance dogs, and trained him to get the phone if he began to have seizure symptoms. Buddy, now 18 months old, is able to press programmed buttons until a 911 operator is on the line, Clark said.Clark said Buddy has made two other 911 calls when Stalnaker was having seizures. He said Stalnaker's seizures are the result of a head injury he suffered about 10 years ago during a military training

A visitor to Beijing's National "Bird's Nest" Stadium was shocked to find a new-born baby abandoned in one of the venue's toilets, local media reported on Wednesday. The baby, later identified as a girl, was found by a woman around noon on Tuesday at the Bird's Nest, which is currently holding athletics events for the Paralympic Games, the Beijing Times said."The woman told venue staff that there was a newborn baby in the toilet, with blood still on its body," the paper said. Volunteers and staff searched for the mother for two hours to no avail, then sent the baby to a hospital. The baby was in good health and was feeding, the paper said, citing people with knowledge of the situation, but said the whereabouts of the mother remained unclear. Authorities were investigating, the paper said. What are your thoughts on this article? Why do you think the mother did this? Write at least a 5 sentence paragraph expressing your thoughts.

I wouldn't normally share such personal and disgusting news *haha*, but last night I was up vomiting. Typically, I wouldn't be here today because I still feel rather sickly, but with the new policy regarding substitutes in place I felt I must come to school today even though I have at least 12 sick days left for the year. If you haven't heard, your teachers will no longer be able to call in a sub due to budget issues at the Board of Education. Instead, the teachers that are at school will have to cover a teacher's class when a teacher is absent. How do you think this will affect your teachers and you? i dont really care about it longest i get my work done in that class i good..
